About the position

The Technical Department Head of the High-Speed/mm-Wave ASICs & Systems Research at Nokia will lead a team of researchers to innovate and design high-performance integrated circuits for advanced communication systems. This role involves collaboration with various business divisions and external partners to develop next-generation communication technologies, particularly for 5G/6G applications. The position requires a blend of technical expertise in circuit design and leadership skills to guide the career development of team members while driving research initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of next-generation communication systems for 5G/6G and mm-wave applications.
  • Design and analyze optical communication ASICs and systems to enhance coherent optical links.
  • Architect sensing and sensor fusion systems for industrial and robotic applications.
  • Conduct system and circuit level design reviews and technical discussions.
  • Establish external relationships and develop new R&D proposals for partnerships.
  • Manage resources including measurement equipment and CAD tools for design flow.
  • Collaborate closely with various Nokia business units for technology transfer.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of work/research experience, or a Master's degree with a minimum of 11 years of experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience in the design, layout, and testing of ultra-high-speed analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits.
  • Experience in design, modeling, and simulation of millimeter-wave wireless transceivers and data converters.
  • Proficiency in high-speed circuit simulation using Cadence Spectre, Agilent ADS, or similar tools.
  • Experience in system modeling and link-budget analysis using MATLAB or Cadence.
  • Hands-on experience in mm-wave testing and characterization.
