About the position
The Highway Bridge Designer Intern position at the Nebraska Department of Transportation's Bridge Division offers Design & Drafting students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in bridge design and detailing. Interns will work on various projects related to the design, construction, and maintenance of state-owned bridges, contributing to Nebraska's transportation infrastructure while developing essential skills in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Learn to read bridge construction plans effectively and quickly.
- Develop plans, geometric design, and detailing skills.
- Become familiar with specialized bridge software.
- Collaborate with experts in structural, hydrology and hydraulics, geotechnical, roadway, materials, construction, and environmental engineering.
- Gain field experience to understand how bridges are constructed.
Requirements
- Must be a three-fourths time student in good standing majoring in a discipline related to the work assigned.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Nice-to-haves
- A.A.S Design & Drafting Technology student with relevant coursework.
- Ability to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.
