About the position

The Highway Engineer position at Gannett Fleming involves project delivery and engineering design for highway projects within the Eastern PA highway team. The role requires proficiency in Pennsylvania Department of Transportation standards and policies, and focuses on building client relationships while ensuring quality project outcomes. The successful candidate will work in a hybrid environment, collaborating with team members and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design tasks for highway projects from preliminary to final design
• Develop construction contract documents including plans, specifications, and cost estimates
• Review construction documents such as shop and working drawings
• Establish working relationships with client technical staff and project managers
• Provide engineering design services for traditional design-bid-build and design-build highway projects
• Mentor and supervise junior engineers in developing plans
• Collaborate with highway staff on roadway, bridge, traffic control, signing, and pavement marking projects
• Knowledge of hydraulic design and preliminary design for environmental documents is desirable
• Work in a multi-discipline team to complete tasks within scope, schedule, and budget

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
• Professional Engineering (PE) License registered in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain within 6 months
• 5-10 years' progressive engineering experience in highway design
• Prior experience with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and/or Pennsylvania Turnpike projects
• Proficient in MicroStation, InRoads, and OpenRoads design software
• Expertise with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
