The Highway Project Manager/Technical Lead position at Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is a pivotal role within the Southeastern PA Highway Team, aimed at delivering a robust portfolio of highway infrastructure and complete streets projects. The selected candidate will be an integral part of a team composed of experienced project managers and professional engineers, focusing on leading technical designs and coordinating with various discipline leads. This role emphasizes client interaction, as the successful candidate will serve as a primary contact for clients, ensuring their needs are met while also providing technical guidance to less experienced engineers. In this role, the Highway Project Manager/Technical Lead will manage all technical resources and oversee multiple disciplines within the project team. Responsibilities include developing and monitoring project schedules, budgets, and scopes, as well as preparing invoices and project status reports. The candidate will also be responsible for creating and maintaining project-specific quality plans and developing extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals. Additionally, the role involves coordinating with subconsultants and assisting Section Heads, Office Managers, and Practice Leaders with marketing proposals. This position is ideal for someone with a strong technical background in civil/roadway design, particularly in areas ranging from complete streets to interstate reconstruction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical designs for highway infrastructure projects.
  • Manage all technical resources and coordinate multiple disciplines on the project team.
  • Engage in 1-on-1 client interactions and participate in client presentations.
  • Manage and coordinate with subconsultants to ensure project success.
  • Develop and monitor project schedules, budgets, and scopes, and prepare invoices.
  • Prepare project status reports and invoices for client review.
  • Develop and maintain project-specific quality plans to ensure high standards.
  • Create extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals as needed.
  • Coordinate with Section Heads, Office Managers, and Practice Leaders on marketing proposals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited engineering program.
  • Professional Engineer License is required.
  • 8+ years of experience in a specialized discipline related to highway engineering.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with the City of Philadelphia and/or PennDOT.
  • Project management and business development experience.
  • Familiarity with multiple project delivery methods such as Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and P3.
  • Experience managing multidiscipline project teams.
