About the position

Kleinfelder is seeking a Highway / Roadway Civil Engineering Project Manager to join their collaborative Design team in Boston, MA. This role involves leading highway and urban roadway design projects, working closely with various civil engineering disciplines, and making a significant impact on major transportation projects. The position offers flexibility in work arrangements, including onsite, remote, or hybrid options, and is ideal for candidates with a strong background in civil engineering and a passion for professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Highway / Roadway design projects incorporating multimodal facilities and traffic calming treatments.
  • Manage urban streets roadway designs and modifications, accessibility improvements, and transit network upgrades.
  • Conduct drainage assessments and designs, and coordinate public and private utility work.
  • Oversee detailed civil design plans, specifications, cost estimates, and bid packages.
  • Collaborate with architects, bridge, environmental, geotechnical, survey, and traffic professionals to complete project deliverables.
  • Prepare and ensure production of specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Build long-term client relationships and support business development initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 7 to 10 years' experience in the design and preparation of construction contract documents for highways.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Experience with roadway design, utilities coordination, and construction support services.
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) design guidelines and standards.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and HydroCAD.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with green infrastructure elements in roadway design.
  • Knowledge of traffic calming treatments and multimodal facility design.
