About the position
The Solar Laborer I position at M. A. Mortenson Company is primarily responsible for the preparation, handling, and supplying of materials for various construction tasks. This role emphasizes teamwork, dependability, and a positive attitude to ensure high-quality work and exceptional customer service. The laborer will engage in various physical tasks on the construction site, contributing to the overall project goals while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload equipment
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding and staging
- Level ground for scaffolding
- Tend mortar and grout
- Lift, unload, move, set, shovel mortar and grout between wheel barrows and buckets
- General cleanup and clearing of debris, including sweeping, cleaning, washing, and unloading or burning debris
- Place, push, pull and shovel concrete
- Vibrate concrete
- Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Ability to work with tools and equipment such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills and jackhammers, forklifts, skid loaders and power buggies
- Strong teamwork orientation
- Positive attitude and professional customer service skills
- Detail orientation
- Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback
- Two-year apprenticeship may be required
- Experience in construction preferred
