About the position
The Upper Darby School District is seeking a full-time Elementary Learning Support Teacher for Hillcrest Elementary School. This role involves directing the learning of elementary school students, ensuring they meet the general and specific objectives of the curricula. The teacher will be responsible for creating a supportive learning environment that fosters critical thinking and effective communication skills among students.
Responsibilities
- Direct the learning of elementary school students as part of the instructional staff.
- Organize the classroom to deliver the academic program of the Upper Darby School District.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents/guardians.
- Utilize instructional materials and equipment to enhance learning.
- Implement classroom/group management skills to maintain a productive learning environment.
- Plan and execute lessons that cater to diverse learning needs.
Requirements
- PA Instructional Certificate (Special Education PK-12) required.
- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate major study.
- Knowledge of content in area of certification.
- Classroom/group management skills.
- Ability to use instructional materials and equipment effectively.
- Understanding of child growth and development.
- Strong communication and motivational skills.
- Ability to organize a classroom to deliver the academic program.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in special education settings.
