About the position

The Grade K-6 Special Education FSC Teacher at Hilo Union Elementary is responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with disabilities in a full-time classroom setting. This role requires a commitment to meeting the educational needs of students while adhering to state licensing requirements and educational standards. The teacher will work collaboratively with other educators and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment that fosters student growth and development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction to K-6 students with disabilities.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and support staff to ensure a cohesive educational experience.
  • Monitor and assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and IEP compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
  • Valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit upon hire.
  • Completion of a Teacher's Education Program within 3 years of hire if not already completed.
  • Demonstrated commitment to pursuing Hawaii licensing requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in special education teaching.
  • National Board Certification in teaching.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $51,835.00 - $72,941.00 annually.
  • $10,000 salary differential for Special Education with Hawaii teaching license.
  • $5,000 salary differential for National Board Certification.
