About the position

HireAbility Vermont is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Career Training and Education Coach to join our dynamic team in Brattleboro. This role is designed to provide time-limited on-site support for participants with disabilities in various settings, including educational and job environments. The CTE Coach will play a crucial role in helping participants achieve independence and success in their work and training endeavors. This position may involve direct, one-on-one support at job sites, where the coach will provide hands-on job training to assist participants in becoming fully independent. The approach will follow a train, fade model, ensuring that participants receive the necessary guidance while gradually gaining the skills to perform tasks independently. In addition to job site support, the CTE Coach may also provide tutoring or coaching during workshops, training programs, or classes. This could include organizing college or training program tours, connecting participants with available supports such as peer mentoring groups, and helping them develop effective study skills and habits. The coach will also assist participants in preparing for pre-vocational skills, such as driving permit tests or CDL exams, and other independent living skills that can enhance their employability. The work schedule for this position will vary based on the specific training needs of participants, and there may be a requirement to work occasional night or weekend hours. Frequent travel to education, training, or job sites is expected, and mileage reimbursement will be provided for any out-of-office travel. This position is temporary and may not guarantee full-time hours, as temporary work is typically for variable hours. The State of Vermont is committed to building a diverse and inclusive community, and this role is open to all State employees and external applicants.
