About the position

The Elmwood Park School District is seeking Substitute Teachers, Paraprofessionals, and Clerical Workers for the 2024/25 school year. This role involves supporting classroom instruction and administrative tasks, providing a flexible work schedule, and contributing to a positive learning environment for students.

Responsibilities

  • Assume duties of the classroom teacher/paraprofessional in accordance with school district lesson plans, school rules, and Kelly policies.
  • Lead instruction in the classroom by conducting the teacher's existing lesson plans and instructing students on various topics.
  • Assign reasonable tasks and homework to students.
  • Empower students to learn and encourage classroom participation.
  • Build a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Adapt to the various learning styles of students.
  • For long-term assignments, develop lesson plans, create, administer, and grade tests and assignments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED for Substitute Clerical and Paraprofessionals.
  • Associates degree or 60 college credits completed for Substitute Teachers.
  • Ability to type 65 words per minute with high accuracy.
  • Above average command of English grammar, spelling, and composition.
  • Ability to operate a variety of office equipment, including computers and Microsoft Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in typing and office administration.
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting.
