About the position

The Electrical Controls Engineer will lead the design, build, installation, maintenance, and integration of control systems for industrial specialty equipment. This role focuses on developing and implementing automation solutions to enhance performance and efficiency within a cutting-edge manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints
  • Design and construct electrical control panels according to specifications
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on panel design and layout
  • Perform quality checks to ensure functionality and efficiency of all panels
  • Troubleshoot and repair existing control systems
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules
  • Prepare cost estimates and timelines for projects
  • Write electrical specifications and create single-line diagrams
  • Design and deploy PLC-based automation control systems, integrating motion control, sensors, VFD drives, and actuators
  • Provide ongoing support for existing systems, troubleshooting and ensuring seamless functionality
  • Conduct comprehensive testing and simulation of systems prior to delivery
  • Execute on-site commissioning and training sessions as required

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience programming and troubleshooting automation equipment and related controls in a professional setting, preferably in manufacturing/production environments
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (with I&E/control system emphasis), or substantial equivalent experience
  • Proficiency with PLC programming (AB & Siemens preferred), HMIs, and SCADA systems
  • Knowledge of electrical design and safety standards (IEC, IEEE, NEMA, CE)
  • Knowledge of both high voltage and controls circuitry
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software; SolidWorks Electrical is a big plus
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to apply engineering principles to solve design problems
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to travel for project support
  • Excellent communication and computer skills
