About the position
The History Adjunct Faculty position involves teaching courses as assigned, with a requirement for the faculty member to be willing to teach in person and/or be certified to teach online. The faculty member is expected to teach assigned courses in accordance with the course descriptions published in the catalog and the approved course syllabus, while incorporating interactive approaches, technologies, and methods when possible. The role also emphasizes the importance of incorporating diverse lifestyles, cultures, and national perspectives into the curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Teaches assigned courses in accordance with description published in catalog and the approved course syllabus.
- Incorporates an appreciation of diverse lifestyles, cultures, and national perspectives into courses.
- Utilizes library resources, writing as an instructional method, and academic technologies in courses.
- Meets all scheduled class meetings.
- Advises Division Dean/Assistant Dean of absences in a timely manner.
- Maintains accurate grade and attendance records for students and submits required reports.
- Submits grades per published deadline.
- Participates in assessment of learning outcomes and uses results in course planning.
- Plans in advance for availability of supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment.
- Submits progress reports on students for counseling and discusses any problems requiring special attention.
- Adheres to College policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in the discipline required unless otherwise specified.
- Some teaching experience is required.
- Unofficial college transcripts must be submitted prior to interview.
Nice-to-haves
- Teaching experience at the community college level.
- Certification or license as needed and appropriate.
