About the position

Falmouth High School is seeking a versatile substitute History Teacher for a duration of 4-12 weeks during the 2024-2025 school year. The role involves teaching a combination of World History and US History courses, including Modern World History and US I History. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering effective lessons, collaborating with colleagues, and developing strong relationships with students and families to support diverse learners.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach highly effective lessons in World History and US History.
• Develop daily and long-range plans for each course taught, relating them to the needs of the students.
• Implement a variety of teaching techniques to ensure student achievement and engagement.
• Develop and state a clear and consistent grading procedure for courses.
• Grade student work in a timely and efficient manner and provide constructive feedback.
• Keep accurate attendance records.
• Communicate with parents and counselors about the progress of individual students.
• Collaborate with History teachers and other colleagues to provide individualized support for struggling students.
• Contribute to maintaining a safe learning environment for students and adults.
• Fulfill supervisory and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in History or related field.
• MA DESE License in History (including 5-12, 8-12).
• MA DESE SEI endorsement preferred.
• Knowledge in the area of developmental disabilities.
• Familiarity with special education assessment tools.
• Knowledge of curriculum design and development.
• Knowledge of MA Curriculum Frameworks and Subject Matter Knowledge.
• Ability to teach a variety of levels of History.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in teaching college preparatory courses.
• Demonstrated experience in motivating students of varying ability levels.
