About the position

The Histotechnologist/Histotechnician position involves performing routine and advanced histological tests in a fast-paced laboratory environment. The role is critical in ensuring high-quality processing and analysis of specimens, contributing to the overall diagnostic process within an academic health system in New Hampshire.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine tasks and advanced tests such as Immunohistochemistry, DIF, Enzyme Histochemistry, Special Stains, and Nerve Teasing.
  • Processes, embeds, and microtomes routine specimens efficiently with the highest quality.
  • Performs grossing of specific specimen types if qualified by CLIA regulation.
  • Conducts staining, including routine and special stains, efficiently with the highest quality.
  • Executes immunohistochemistry efficiently with the highest quality.
  • Operates and maintains processing and staining equipment.
  • Ensures accurate results by following established quality control practices.
  • Identifies QC problems and notifies appropriate technical staff.
  • Trains in routine areas such as processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician.
  • Experience in a laboratory setting, particularly in histology.
  • Knowledge of quality control practices in laboratory settings.
  • Ability to perform advanced histological techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with immunohistochemistry and special stains.
  • Familiarity with CLIA regulations.
