About the position
The Hog/Swine Caretaker/Herdsperson is responsible for the daily care and management of hogs on the farm. This includes monitoring the health and well-being of the animals, administering vaccinations and medications, and ensuring that feeding and ventilation systems are functioning properly. The role also involves maintaining accurate feed inventories and following animal welfare policies.
Responsibilities
- Check hogs daily for injuries and signs of illness.
- Administer vaccinations and medications to the hogs.
- Ensure feed, water, and ventilation systems are operating properly.
- Assist in moving animals and maintaining efficient animal flow.
- Maintain accurate feed inventories to ensure pigs have adequate feed.
- Follow the company's animal welfare policies and procedures.
- Treat sick animals and remove dead hogs.
- Assist with grounds maintenance.
- Use high-pressure equipment to sanitize and wash multiple areas on the farm.
- Operate farm equipment such as mowers and tractors.
Requirements
- Valid Driver's License.
- Experience in animal restraint.
