About the position

The Holiday Sales Assistant is a seasonal role focused on promoting and selling merchandise in the designated holiday gift area. This position requires excellent customer service skills, the ability to work collaboratively with various departments, and a proactive approach to addressing customer inquiries and needs. The role involves direct interaction with customers, assisting them in product selection, and ensuring a positive shopping experience during the busy holiday season.

Responsibilities

• Promote and sell merchandise displayed in the designated holiday gift area.
• Work directly with internal and external customers.
• Follow up with customer orders and inquiries.
• Assist with any problems associated with merchandise in conjunction with customer service and warehouse operations.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure customer needs are met.
• Ask customers questions about products, prices, availability, and product uses to understand their needs better.
• Explain features of products in a manner that the customer will understand.
• Prepare sales tickets for orders obtained.
• Assist customers in making product selections based on their specifications.
• Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs.
• Describe merchandise and explain use, operation, and care of merchandise to customers.
• Stay educated on new products, policies, and advertisements the store is running.
• Use excellent customer relations skills.
• Assist customers with 'cash & carry' orders.
• Process credit card transactions for gift sales.
• Perform any other duties as directed by management.

Requirements

• Ability to lift merchandise of 10 lbs.
• Must be able to walk or stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to listen and respond to customer's needs.
• Effective communication skills with team members.
• Sales experience preferred, not required.
• Positive attitude when working with internal and external customers.
• Knowledge of employment and safety procedures.
