About the position

The Home Care Aide position is designed to provide essential support to individuals in their homes, assisting with daily living activities and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment. This role is crucial for enhancing the quality of life for clients by performing various personal care tasks and household duties.

Responsibilities

• Planning, preparation and clean-up of meals
• Giving bed baths or assisting with shower or tub baths
• Assisting with oral care such as brushing teeth or denture care when the participant is unable
• Providing assistance to and from the bed to a wheelchair, walker, or chair when a participant is weight-bearing
• Assisting participants with ordinarily self-administered medications (open bottles, get water)
• Light housekeeping tasks
• Laundering clothes and linens; making beds and changing sheets
• Shopping for essential items (e.g., groceries, cleaning supplies, etc.)
• Assisting with ostomy care, catheter care, performing bowel programs, administering non-injectable medications, assisting with insulin set-up, and performing vital signs and weights

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age
• A minimum of one year experience of direct patient care with either a Skilled Nursing facility or an In-Home Care Agency is preferred
• Ability to assist the patient with walking through the use of a cane, walker, or gait belt
