About the position

As a Home Health Aide (HHA) or Personal Care Assistant (PCA) at Assurance Care & Support Services Inc, you will play a crucial role in providing compassionate and personalized care to clients in their homes. Your primary responsibility will be to assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring that each client's individual care plan is followed meticulously. You will also assist clients with mobility, transfers, and prescribed exercises, helping them maintain their independence and quality of life. In addition to personal care, you will be responsible for administering medication reminders and ensuring that clients adhere to their prescribed treatment plans. Light housekeeping tasks, including meal preparation and laundry, will also be part of your duties, as maintaining a clean and safe environment is essential for the well-being of the clients. Monitoring and reporting any changes in the client's physical and mental condition to the supervising nurse or healthcare professional is critical, as it ensures that the client receives the appropriate care and support. Fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere is key to promoting emotional well-being and companionship for clients. You will accompany clients to medical appointments, shopping, and other activities as needed, providing them with the social interaction and support they require. Accurate documentation of care activities and maintaining the confidentiality of client information are also vital components of this role. Collaboration with the healthcare team will ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to client care, enhancing the overall effectiveness of the services provided.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Certification as a Home Health Aide (HHA) or completion of a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) training program or willingness to obtain.
  • Previous experience in home healthcare or a related field is preferred.
  • Compassion, empathy, and a genuine interest in improving the lives of others.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow care plans and adapt to the unique needs of each client.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license, if required for home visits.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
