About the position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for Hospice is a vital member of the interdisciplinary team, providing essential personal care and support services to patients under the supervision of a registered nurse. This role focuses on meeting the personal needs of patients, promoting comfort, and ensuring safety while adhering to the organization's compliance and care standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provides personal care and support services according to a written plan of care.
  • Maintains patient privacy during personal care activities such as bathing and grooming.
  • Lifts, turns, and positions patients to ensure comfort and proper body alignment.
  • Monitors patient areas for safety hazards and reports any issues immediately.
  • Carries out basic infection control procedures and maintains cleanliness of patient supplies and equipment.
  • Accurately records vital signs and other patient observations as directed.
  • Completes documentation in a timely manner according to protocol.
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and attends required education programs.

Requirements

  • CNA certification from the Maryland Board of Nursing.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
  • Valid driver's license with a vehicle in good working order and insured according to state requirements.
  • High School Diploma.

  • Understanding of Hospice philosophy and comfort in providing care to terminally ill patients.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and remain calm in stressful situations.
