About the position

The Home Health Aide at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is responsible for providing personal health care services and assistance with activities of daily living to patients in their homes. This role is essential in supporting healthcare professionals and ensuring that patient care plans are effectively implemented. The position requires flexibility in scheduling and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist healthcare professionals by providing personal health care services to patients.
• Help patients with activities of daily living as specified in a written assignment.
• Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and co-workers.
• Document care activities and patient conditions accurately and timely.
• Follow safety measures when providing patient care and respect patient privacy.
• Communicate changes in the patient's condition to the Case Manager or Supervisor promptly.
• Establish rapport with patients and demonstrate a supportive attitude towards agency policies.

Requirements

• Kansas Home Health Certification (must be acquired within 45 days if not currently held).
• BCLS certification obtained through the American Heart Association.
• Valid Driver's License and current car insurance.
• Preferably at least one year of employment experience as a Nurse's Aide in an institutional setting.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in nursing or as a nurse's aide.
• Strong communication skills and ability to establish rapport with patients.
