About the position

Horizon Farm Credit is actively seeking a Home & Land Credit Analyst to join our team, with the opportunity to work from either the Mechanicsburg, PA or Mount Joy, PA branch locations. This position is ideal for an experienced, organized, detail-oriented, and analytical individual with a background in consumer underwriting. As a Credit Analyst, you will play a crucial role in delivering sound credit and financial services while adhering to regulations and policies. Your primary responsibility will be to analyze and underwrite loans for prospective and existing borrowers, ensuring that all credit decisions are made in a sound and efficient manner. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Loan Officers to structure, condition, and approve credits for our borrowers. You will focus on providing excellent customer service while participating in credit decisions that maintain a favorable image for Farm Credit. Your responsibilities will include analyzing financial information, preparing comprehensive loan narratives, and actively managing the loan underwriting pipeline to meet targeted turnaround times for loan decisions. You will also engage with cross-functional teams and participate in various association initiatives, contributing to the overall success of the organization. To excel in this position, you will need to stay informed about internal credit practices, loan products, and compliance standards to ensure that all credit decisions are sound and eligible. This role requires a self-starter who is innovative, quality-focused, and capable of effectively communicating with a geographically diverse team. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer are expected, as you will be analyzing data and preparing reports to support your credit recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial information including historical trends, pro-forma projections, debt repayment schedules, and stress testing.
  • Prepare a loan narrative summarizing the financial analysis and addressing the five C's of credit.
  • Collaborate with Loan Officers to finalize credit recommendations.
  • Obtain necessary delegated authority for loan approvals.
  • Study and familiarize with internal credit practices, loan products, and compliance standards.
  • Manage loan underwriting pipeline and meet targeted turnaround times for loan decisions.
  • Maintain high levels of communication with lending and operations teams.
  • Participate in association initiatives and engage with cross-functional teams.
  • Complete other projects and research as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, Economics, or Finance.
  • One to five years of agricultural, commercial, or consumer credit analysis/underwriting experience required.
  • Sound credit judgment and differential credit skills for accurate and timely credit packages.
  • Self-starter, organized, detail-oriented, innovative, and quality/solution focused.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with a geographically diverse team.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills.
  • Adaptable and flexible to a changing work environment.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods and work on a computer.
