About the position

The Home Office Purchasing & Subcontracts Administrator at Bechtel Corporation is responsible for managing the planning, formation, award, administration, and close-out of small to medium-sized subcontracts and purchase orders. This role requires effective communication with engineering teams and suppliers to ensure compliance with procurement regulations and successful project outcomes. The position is fully remote but requires quarterly business trips to the Reston office.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with Engineering to assist in the preparation of material requisitions for procurement.
  • Forms bid packages and issues bid requests; coordinates bidders' questions and receives proposals.
  • Prepares Commercial Bid Summary and recommendations for award.
  • Prepares and commits purchase orders, subcontracts, and consultancy agreements within authority.
  • Establishes clear definitions of requirements with suppliers to ensure performance.

Requirements

  • Requires a University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.
  • Working knowledge of fixed-price subcontracts and procurement regulations.
  • Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in developing various subcontract types and purchase orders.
  • Basic understanding of Federal Contracts and applicable clauses.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in change management requirements.
  • Working knowledge of engineering/construction industry contracting practices.
  • Familiarity with Bechtel National and Bechtel Power policies and procedures.
