About the position

This entry-level position involves working in a home therapies setting under the supervision of the Home Therapy Registered Nurse (HTRN). The primary focus is to assist in coordinating patient appointments and ensuring an outstanding patient experience. The role serves as the main point of contact for patients from check-in to departure, supporting the needs of the Patient Care Team.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with administrative duties related to the patient's appointment.
  • Greets new and existing patients and notifies Patient Care Team of their arrival.
  • Schedules appointments and places appointment reminder calls, including scheduling for access placement and removal.
  • Answers home therapy program calls and follows up on voicemails with the applicable care team member.
  • Coordinates transportation assistance as needed.
  • Prepares room/space for patient arrival, ensuring cleanliness and compliance with FMCNA Infection Control standards.
  • Places supply orders and follows up on any patient-related orders with customer service as needed.
  • Prepares needed items for each patient, including education materials and lab supplies.
  • Tracks extension set changes, vaccine due dates, and hospitalizations.
  • Tracks transplant referrals and any follow-up needed.
  • Ensures patients' records are available for review.
  • Assists with other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Assists HT RN during patient appointments, including helping patients to and from the waiting area.
  • Obtains height, weight, and vital signs from patients.
  • Performs venipunctures for laboratory testing only and processes laboratory samples.
  • Follows up on referrals and additional appointments needed from patient appointments.
  • Documents patient information as applicable.
  • Responsible for record and supply room maintenance, including filing and uploading records, storing documents, and tracking various medical metrics.
  • Checks for expired medications, lab tubes, and supplies, and assists in ordering supplies including medication.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D required.
  • CPR certified.
  • 0 to 6 months experience preferred in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong interest in working in a healthcare setting.
  • Prior experience in a physician office or hospital preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite preferred.
