About the position

The Homebound Teacher for General Education/Section 504 is responsible for ensuring that every homebound child in the district capable of benefiting from instruction is provided with an ongoing educational program. This position involves working closely with students who require homebound instruction due to various circumstances, ensuring they receive the necessary educational support tailored to their individual needs.

Responsibilities

• Work with the campus administrator/Section 504 Coordinator/District 504 Coordinator to identify the educational needs and the physical and learning capabilities of assigned students.
• Implement an instructional program for each assigned student receiving homebound instruction on a temporary basis, with input from the student's regular teachers.
• Meet with each assigned student on a regularly scheduled basis to provide instruction.
• Establish a cooperative relationship with the student's parents or guardians based on the student's individual needs.
• File written progress reports on each assigned student with their parents or guardians and regular teachers.
• Maintain and file required reports and records, including attendance and instructional reports.
• Obtain necessary materials through established procedures.
• Interpret the homebound program to regular district staff and the community as required.
• Stay informed of trends and new methods in education for adaptation to homebound instruction.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Education.
• Knowledge of Section 504 Student Services Plans (SSP), specialized accommodations, and STAAR accommodations.
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• Experience in working with parents of Section 504 students preferred.
• Three years' experience in teaching students preferred.
