About the position
The Hood Suppression Technician at Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC is responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of fire suppression systems in both commercial and residential settings. This role involves ensuring compliance with fire codes, conducting inspections, and preparing detailed reports on system performance and deficiencies. The technician will also respond to emergency service calls and maintain a clean and safe workspace.
Responsibilities
- Install or upgrade suppression systems in commercial and residential buildings
- Test and repair systems already in place
- Perform inspections to ensure suppression systems are installed according to code
- Complete detailed inspection reports, documenting any issues
- Report results of work completed in an accurate and timely manner
- Protect and maintain company equipment
- Inspect and maintain the truck and all related equipment, putting in repair requests as necessary
- Operate warehouse equipment, including vehicles, in a safe manner
- Work in accordance with company safety procedures
- Respond to emergency service calls
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace
- Perform other duties assigned by management
Requirements
- Experience with commercial and residential systems
- Troubleshooting skills
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Clean driving record and reliable transportation
- Flexibility with scheduling requirements, including evenings and weekends
- Knowledge of principles and practices of fire safety
- Knowledge of codes and regulations related to the work
- Ability to maintain accurate records and reports
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
- Ability to use or repair small/light equipment, such as power tools and ladders
