About the position

The Hook Truck Driver at All American Waste is responsible for safely operating heavy-duty vehicles to prepare, load, and transport waste containers to various disposal sites, transfer stations, or recycling facilities. This role requires navigating through various environments, including tight spaces and high-traffic areas, while adhering to safety regulations and company policies. The position emphasizes exceptional driving skills, customer service, and effective communication with route managers and dispatch.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate heavy-duty hook trucks according to safety rules and regulations.
• Perform pre-and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment and document checks.
• Report any unsafe situations or service-related issues to the Route Manager or Dispatch.
• Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs and meetings.
• Work closely with Route Managers to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
• Notify Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions and potential safety hazards.
• Communicate customer requests to the Route Manager or Dispatch.
• Identify and report containers in need of repair or replacement.
• Position and return containers on the customer's property appropriately.
• Follow route assignments and complete end-of-day documentation.
• Assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
• Participate in required Company meetings, including weekly safety meetings.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance consistent with Company policies.

Requirements

• Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake endorsement preferred.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Exceptional driving record with a focus on safety.
• Ability to read and write logs, reports, orders, and maps.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing duties.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with commercial driving, particularly in waste management.
• Customer service experience in a similar field.
