About the position

The Horticulture Teacher (CTE) is responsible for planning and providing appropriate classroom learning experiences for students in the field of horticulture. This role aims to create a conducive environment for the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students, ensuring their success. The teacher will supervise students in various school-related settings, monitor and evaluate student outcomes, and communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and the community. Additionally, the teacher will develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the diverse needs of all students while maintaining appropriate records and ensuring the proper use of equipment and facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide appropriate classroom learning experiences for students.
  • Supervise students in various school-related settings.
  • Monitor and evaluate student outcomes.
  • Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet student needs.
  • Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices.
  • Monitor the appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Utilize assessment strategies aligned with curriculum and standards.
  • Engage in continuous professional quality improvement.
  • Implement classroom instructional strategies that reflect students' cultures and learning styles.
  • Establish a classroom management system that creates a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with peers, parents, and community stakeholders to improve educational experiences.
  • Integrate appropriate technology into teaching and learning processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education with appropriate subject area.
  • Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator's License in a teaching content area.
  • Extensive knowledge of curriculum and effective classroom instructional practices.
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Apps.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Strategic problem-solving skills using multiple data points.
  • Ability to prepare course objectives and outlines following curriculum guidelines.
  • Ability to provide instruction reflecting multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
  • Ability to infuse technology into the curriculum.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment and discipline in the classroom.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a specific subject area.
