About the position

The Hospice Aide (CNA) position at St. Croix Hospice involves providing compassionate and quality care to terminally ill patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). This role is integral to the interdisciplinary care team, focusing on maintaining a safe and sanitary environment while ensuring the comfort and dignity of patients. The position requires timely documentation of care and effective communication with patients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care including bathing, nail/skin care, dressing/undressing, dental and other personal hygiene while maintaining a sanitary and orderly environment.
  • Offer positive, respectful, and confidential patient/family communication.
  • Take and record vital signs, and assist with self-administered medications.
  • Plan and prepare nutritious meals, including shopping and feeding the patient as needed.
  • Assess and report patient's condition and changes to the RN Case Manager.
  • Assist in ambulation, exercise, transfers, positioning and support a complete range of motion and other therapy activities.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal skills such as communication, empathy, and compassion.
  • Demonstrated tact and patience.
  • Time management and organization skills.
  • High integrity and a commitment to HIPAA privacy standards.
  • Comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) designation current with state-specific requirements.
  • Licensed and insured driver with automobile in good working order.
