About the position

The Hospice Aide position involves providing personal care and assistance with daily living activities for patients in a hospice setting. The role is supervised by a Registered Nurse and requires adherence to the patient's Plan of Care. The aide is responsible for observing and reporting changes in the patient's condition, completing documentation, and seeking additional training to enhance their skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow the hospice aide plan of care developed for each patient under the supervision of the Hospice Nurse.
• Observe and report any changes in the patient's condition immediately to the Hospice Nurse.
• Complete documentation for each visit as directed.
• Continually assess own skill and knowledge base and actively seek additional training through available resources.

Requirements

• Current certification from the State of Maryland as Nursing Assistant required.
• Certification as Hospice and Palliative Nursing Assistant preferred.
• Two years of practical experience in a hospital, nursing home, or home care program.
• Home care or hospice experience preferred.
• Must have been providing similar services within the past two years.
• Ability to read, write, and verbally report clinical information to patients, caregivers, and hospice staff.
• Ability to assimilate easily into an emotionally charged environment.
• Demonstrates gentleness and empathy toward patients.
• Proficiency in required skills, including lifting, positioning, and transferring patients safely.
