About the position

The Hospice Chaplain/Bereavement Coordinator at St. Joseph Villa Homecare and Hospice provides spiritual counseling and support to patients and families facing terminal illnesses. This role involves assessing spiritual concerns, offering emotional support, and facilitating connections with the patients' and families' religious practices. Additionally, the bereavement coordinator supports individuals after the loss of a loved one through various means, including one-on-one visits, phone calls, and group support.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual counseling to patients and families dealing with terminal illness.
• Assess spiritual concerns and provide emotional and spiritual support.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans.
• Offer bereavement support to individuals after the death of a loved one.
• Conduct one-on-one visits or phone calls to provide support.
• Send written resources and materials to bereaved individuals.
• Facilitate group support sessions as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Graduate of accredited seminary or school of theology preferred.
• One or more units of Clinical Pastoral Education preferred.
• Comfort in an interfaith setting.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
• Ability to network with community clergy and congregations of different faiths.
• Nebraska Driver's License with the ability to travel between patient home settings.
• An automobile that is insured and in good working order.
• Hospice experience preferred.
• Willingness to provide on-call care.

Nice-to-haves
