About the position
The Hospice Chaplain at Enhabit Home Health & Hospice is responsible for providing spiritual support and counsel to patients and their families facing life-threatening illnesses. This role is integral to the interdisciplinary team, focusing on enhancing the spiritual care provided to patients and families, while also offering consultation and education to team members. The Chaplain will maintain records of visits, perform liturgical assignments, and ensure that the spiritual needs of patients and families are met in accordance with their beliefs.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct spiritual support and counsel to patients and families.
- Work with staff, clergy, and community groups to enhance sensitivity to spiritual needs.
- Provide consultation and education for patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Conduct bereavement follow-up services as defined by Hospice.
- Maintain proper records of visits to patients and families.
- Perform occasional liturgical assignments such as memorial services.
Requirements
- Must be ordained or have ecclesiastical endorsement to function in a pastoral capacity.
- Demonstrated experience working with patients and families dealing with life-threatening illness and death.
- Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Exceptional customer service skills with diverse stakeholders.
- Organizational skills to perform multiple critical tasks simultaneously.
- Understanding of issues related to home care services.
- Ability to be open, sensitive, flexible, and ecumenical.
- Ability to function efficiently in a high-stress environment.
