About the position
The Hospice Chaplain provides Spiritual Care within the local ministry, focusing on the spiritual needs of patients, families, and colleagues. This role involves addressing spiritual distress, grief support, and crisis intervention, while being an integrated member of the healthcare team. The Chaplain develops and participates in spiritual care programs, ensuring the inclusion of faith leaders in the care process. Reporting to the Manager of Spiritual Care, the Chaplain is responsible for delivering transformative spiritual care experiences and documenting assessments and interventions in the electronic medical record.
Responsibilities
- Deliver and facilitate transformative Spiritual Care experiences to patients, residents, participants, visitors, and colleagues.
- Honor and respect the religious beliefs, practices, and values of those served within the healing process.
- Implement systems to assess religious and spiritual needs, including ethics consultation, and provide interventions or referrals as needed.
- Make timely observations of the outcomes of Spiritual Care provided and adjust care as necessary.
- Document professional Spiritual Care assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
- Plan and implement programs for ongoing personal self-care and formation to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
Requirements
- Master's degree in theology, Religion, Spiritual Care or Spirituality, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1 to 3 years of Spiritual Care experience, including CPE training, is required.
- Chaplaincy or Spiritual Care ministry experience is preferred.
- Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) strongly preferred.
