About the position
The Hospice Chaplain at Suncrest Hospice is responsible for providing spiritual support and guidance to patients and their families, ensuring compassionate care that respects diverse faiths. This role emphasizes the importance of quality hospice care and involves collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to meet the spiritual needs of patients in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Provide spiritual support, guidance, and resources to patients and their families.
- Assess spiritual needs of patients and families/caregivers in the hospice program.
- Serve as a liaison and support to community chaplains and spiritual counselors.
- Maintain accurate records of spiritual care services utilization and related activities.
- Attend patient care conferences and interdisciplinary group meetings, providing consultation, education, and support.
- Provide funeral or memorial services for patients as requested.
- Assist with the supervision of spiritual care volunteers when assigned to patients/families/caregivers.
- Actively participate in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities.
Requirements
- Certificate of graduation from an accredited seminary or school of theology (BD, MDiv or equivalent theological degree), or a degree in pastoral care, or equivalent experience; Master's degree preferred.
- One year of chaplain experience preferred.
- Experience working with death and the dying, as it relates to patients and their families/caregivers.
- Ability to work as a contributing member of an interdisciplinary group.
- Comfort level in an inter-faith setting.
- Minimum of 3 units of CPE; MDiv or Masters in Theology required.
