About the position

JourneyCare Hospice is seeking an Inpatient Dedicated Medical Director to join our rapidly growing team. This position offers an immediate opening with a competitive salary of up to $230K, along with generous time off packages and a 401K plan with matching contributions. At JourneyCare, we prioritize your well-being and respect your work-life balance, which is why there are no on-call or weekend obligations. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, located at our Inpatient Barrington CareCenter. As the Inpatient Dedicated Medical Director, you will be responsible for providing hands-on, compassionate care in a dynamic 16-bed inpatient hospice facility. You will engage with the inpatient interdisciplinary team and home hospice teams to shape and optimize patient care strategies. Your role will also involve ensuring the highest quality of care standards are met and exceeded within the inpatient hospice facility. Additionally, you will foster relationships with existing and potential referral sources and the local medical community through impactful education on end-of-life care and symptom management. This position requires a commitment to ongoing professional development, with a minimum of 8 education hours required annually. All personnel must attend mandatory educational programs to stay abreast of the latest advancements in hospice and palliative care. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Medical degree and board certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
  • Active medical license in Illinois.
  • Proven track record in providing hospice and palliative care, with a focus on inpatient settings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, coupled with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of the latest advancements in hospice and palliative care.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a leadership role within a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with hospice certification processes and requirements.
