About the position

The Hospital Billing & Follow Up Representative is responsible for managing the full range of hospital insurance billing, collections, and credit balance account processing. This role involves responding to inquiries from patients and insurance companies, resolving billing issues, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The position requires extensive knowledge of medical billing processes and regulations, as well as a commitment to quality and customer service in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage hospital insurance billing and collections processes.
  • Respond to billing inquiries from patients and insurance companies.
  • Identify and resolve account adjustments and billing edits.
  • Process account credit balances and insurance refund requests.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal billing regulations.
  • Review and process hospital claim errors and appeals.
  • Maintain knowledge of medical terminology and coding principles.

Requirements

  • Three years of recent acute care hospital billing and collection experience.
  • Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations related to billing medical insurance claims.
  • Thorough knowledge of UB04 and revenue codes for hospital billing.
  • Extensive knowledge in submission of hospital claims appeals.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology, ICD9, CPT, HCPCS coding principles.
  • Knowledge of facility reimbursement contracts and methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Epic Resolute experience.
  • Previous hospital billing experience.
  • Experience in hospital credit balance/refund processing.
