About the position

Optim Health System is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial operations of our extensive healthcare network. The CFO will play a pivotal role in directing the organization's financial planning and accounting practices, ensuring that we maintain strong relationships with lending institutions, pay sources, and the broader financial community. This position is crucial for overseeing the Finance, Revenue, Accounting, Accounts Payable, Information Technology, and Materials departments at a system level. The CFO will interact closely with management staff to develop the strategic plan and its financial planning component. This includes overseeing and directing budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, long-range forecasting, and insurance activities for the organization. The CFO will evaluate the organization's financial position and provide periodic reports on financial stability, liquidity, and growth. Additionally, the role involves developing and implementing financial policies and procedures, ensuring compliance, and implementing internal controls and generally accepted accounting procedures. In this role, the CFO will supervise the revenue department, analyze costs, and make rate recommendations to ensure appropriate income and cash flow. The preparation and issuance of the organization's annual tax and other reports will also fall under the CFO's purview, along with the preparation or review of financial statements for the Board. The CFO will assist in achieving the organization's mission and help execute staff succession and growth plans by training finance and other staff on financial management matters. Collaboration with the CEO on strategic vision, fostering relationships, and assisting in contract development and negotiation will be key responsibilities. The CFO will also participate in developing new business opportunities, drafting prospective budgets, and determining the cost-effectiveness of new initiatives. Furthermore, the CFO will oversee all fiscal reporting activities and purchasing activities, ensuring adequate cash flow to meet the organization's needs.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the organization's financial planning and accounting practices.
  • Oversee budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, long-range forecasting, and insurance activities.
  • Evaluate the organization's financial position and issue periodic reports on financial stability, liquidity, and growth.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures, ensuring compliance.

  • Oversee management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities.
  • Oversee all purchasing activity and ensure adequate cash flow.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or finance required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Eight to ten years of experience in financial/accounting management.
  • Experience in healthcare financial management required.
