About the position

The Hospital Director of Operations for Veterinary Medicine at Ethos Veterinary Health is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the operations and business activities of multiple veterinary hospitals. The director will collaborate with diverse teams to drive results, enhance patient care, and ensure the financial health of the facilities. Responsibilities

  • Directly oversee all operations and business activities across multiple veterinary facilities.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director to ensure high-quality patient care and effective hospital management.
  • Translate strategic vision into actionable plans and manage operations to achieve objectives.
  • Facilitate resolution of issues and drive growth within the hospital leadership team.
  • Conduct engaging staff meetings and regularly evaluate the welfare of the practice.
  • Shape a positive hospital culture based on trust and teamwork.
  • Oversee recruitment and hiring processes to attract top talent in conjunction with the Medical Director.
  • Monitor employee performance and conduct reviews, including disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Establish optimal medical care while maintaining financial health in collaboration with the Medical Director.
  • Provide resources and support for hospital staff to foster a positive work environment.
  • Develop an understanding of the local market and build relationships with referring veterinarians.
  • Support marketing events and programs to enhance hospital visibility and effectiveness.
  • Identify and execute growth plans, including new services and team recruitment.
  • Manage accounting and finance processes, creating annual budgets aimed at profitability.
  • Lead monthly financial reviews and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Apply continuous improvement principles to financial and operational processes.
  • Own the P&L and ensure financial results meet expectations.
  • Administer non-medical client complaints and oversee billing processes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive operational management experience with a record of success.
  • Experience managing a P&L is required.
  • Master's degree or equivalent experience is preferred, with an MBA being ideal.
  • Healthcare experience (veterinary or human) is preferred but not required.
  • Multi-site leadership experience is preferred but not required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to motivate, coach, and inspire others effectively.
