About the position

The Hospital Director will oversee operations and business activities across multiple veterinary facilities, focusing on enhancing patient care and fostering a collaborative team environment. This role requires a blend of operational expertise, strategic planning, and a commitment to people-centered outcomes, aimed at driving performance and growth in a dynamic healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Directly oversee all operations and business activities across all departments.
  • Partner effectively with the Medical Director to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Translate vision into actionable plans and manage operations to achieve objectives.
  • Facilitate resolution of issues and drive growth within the hospital.
  • Conduct engaging staff meetings and regularly evaluate the welfare of the practice.
  • Shape a positive hospital culture based on trust and teamwork.
  • Oversee recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of staff in conjunction with the Medical Director.
  • Monitor employee competence and conduct performance reviews.
  • Collaborate on the recruitment and hiring of doctors to maintain high standards of care.
  • Establish optimal medical care while maintaining financial health.
  • Provide resources and support for hospital staff, fostering a positive culture.
  • Develop an understanding of the local market and build relationships with referring veterinarians.
  • Support planned marketing events and programs.
  • Identify and execute plans for growth, including new services and recruitment strategies.
  • Take charge of accounting and finance processes, creating annual operating budgets.
  • Lead financial activities with monthly reviews of financial statements.
  • Apply continuous improvement principles to financial and operating processes.
  • Own the P&L and ensure financial results meet expectations.
  • Handle payroll processing biweekly and ensure accuracy.
  • Drive results across all business elements by setting goals and evaluating progress.
  • Partner with Ethos and technology providers to enhance hospital activities.
  • Direct growth activities to support business objectives and elevate team performance.
  • Understand lean principles to improve processes and create efficiencies.
  • Administer and review non-medical client complaints and ensure swift resolution.
  • Oversee billing processes and ensure smooth client flow.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive operational management experience with a record of success, including experience managing a P&L.
  • MBA or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Healthcare (veterinary or human) experience preferred, but not required.
  • Multi-site leadership experience preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to learn quickly and absorb new information rapidly.
  • Self-motivated with expertise in motivating, coaching, and inspiring others.
  • Ability to participate enthusiastically in flexible and irregular hours.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
