About the position

The Hospital Educator plays a crucial role in planning, developing, and coordinating both clinical and non-clinical in-service education programs for all staff within the hospital. This position requires collaboration with hospital leadership and staff to assess current educational needs and develop a comprehensive plan to address those needs effectively. The Hospital Educator is also responsible for the ongoing revision and implementation of policies and procedures, protocol development, and the implementation of new equipment. Additionally, this role involves orienting new staff members and coordinating CPR certification for hospital personnel as necessary. Working with limited supervision, the Hospital Educator must demonstrate the ability to work effectively across all hospital departments. Staying current on the latest care techniques within their area of expertise is essential, as is serving as the primary contact for local schools that have students completing clinical rotations at the hospital. This position is vital for ensuring that all staff members are well-trained and equipped to provide high-quality care to patients, thereby enhancing the overall educational framework of the hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and coordinate continuing clinical and non-clinical in-service education programs for hospital staff.
  • Assess current educational needs in collaboration with hospital leadership and staff.
  • Develop and implement a plan to satisfy identified educational needs.
  • Assist in the ongoing revision and implementation of hospital policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate protocol development and equipment implementation.
  • Orient new staff members to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate CPR certification for staff as needed.
  • Stay current on the latest care techniques within the educational area of expertise.
  • Serve as the point-person for local schools with students completing clinical rotations at the hospital.

Requirements

  • Active clinical license required.
  • Appropriate education to obtain and maintain required licensure.
  • Previous experience as an Educator preferred.
  • If Registered Nurse, CRRN certification preferred.
  • CPR certified.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a hospital setting as an educator.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
