Hospital Laboratory Director

About the position

The Hospital Laboratory Director is responsible for leading and managing the clinical laboratory operations at the hospital, ensuring both operational and financial success. This role involves directing personnel actions, overseeing laboratory compliance, managing budgets, and serving as a communication liaison within the Integrated Laboratory System. The director will also focus on achieving departmental goals aligned with company objectives and maintaining high standards of quality care.

Responsibilities

• Direct personnel actions including recruiting, interviewing, and selection of new staff.
• Develop work goals and objectives for the hospital laboratory in alignment with company goals.
• Provide leadership, feedback, and motivation for staff to achieve departmental goals.
• Participate in task forces or councils to plan and coordinate programs and activities.
• Ensure laboratory compliance with accreditation, licensure, and regulatory standards.
• Develop and oversee the laboratory budget, managing resources to meet budget parameters.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, clients, and other healthcare professionals regarding technical and operational issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, or related field.
• Qualified as a technical supervisor or general supervisor under CLIA '88 regulations.
• Four years of leadership experience with direct reports and management responsibility.
• Strong knowledge of commonly used software programs.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with analytical and strategic skills.
• Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Valid driver's license and eligibility for company auto insurance coverage.
