About the position

The Therapy Technician at Valir Rehabilitation Hospital plays a crucial role in assisting with the treatment and care of patients. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in patients' lives and are committed to providing compassionate, individualized care. The role involves working closely with staff therapists and participating in various therapeutic activities to support patient recovery and comfort.

Responsibilities

  • Perform treatment procedures as appropriate, and assist with application of ice packs and heat assuring patient comfort.
  • Assist Staff Therapist with treatment procedures following direction in an accurate and precise manner.
  • Assist patients in transfers while assuring comfort.
  • Provide morning care, ADLs, and general care routines as requested.
  • Participate in Dysphagia group.
  • Perform general care activities for patients in isolation following established procedures.
  • Assume responsibility for patients' schedules, during week and weekend, and communicate any changes to the patients.
  • Assist with or transport patients as necessary and assist with filling paperwork promptly.
  • Report and/or record any changes observed in condition or behavior.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment with well-stocked supplies and functioning equipment.
  • Follow therapy care plan and observe established policy and procedures to assure proper treatment and care of patients.
  • Perform any and all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • CPR Certification
  • 1 year prior experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Ability to seek assistance as needed
  • Ability to understand and follow through with directions given related to patient care
  • Ability to interact positively and communicate well with patients, families, co-workers, supervisors, and other hospital employees.
