About the position

Iskalo Development is seeking a dynamic Hospitality Controller to oversee financial management and reporting for its Amherst Hospitality Campus, which includes the Reikart House Boutique Hotel, Jazzboline Restaurant, Bar and Ballroom, and the Amherst Hyatt Place hotel. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospitality and accounting, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of financial management, internal controls, accounting, and financial reporting for the Amherst Hospitality Campus.
  • Work closely with the corporate management team to prepare annual expense budgets and track actual performance versus budget throughout the year, providing regular variance analysis reports.
  • Oversee month-end close processes including balancing, month-end reports, and reconciliation of all ledgers.
  • Participate in monthly review of financial statements and general ledger account classifications with the General Manager.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and research on financial questions as appropriate.
  • Perform analysis of budget-to-actual variations and ensure accuracy of physical counts, pricing, and related worksheets.
  • Oversee daily and monthly reconciliation of sales and occupancy tax requirements.
  • Act as liaison to outside accounting firms for tax returns, audits, and advisory services, ensuring accurate and timely information is provided.
  • Establish or recommend major corporate accounting strategies, objectives, and policies for the company.
  • Create and implement internal audit SOPs and standards with corporate approval.
  • Lead, direct, and manage staff accountants.
  • Provide direction and training to hotel operational team regarding financial reports, internal controls, standard operating procedures, expense controls, and payroll.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with staff in all operational areas of the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Minimum of five years' hospitality-related accounting or asset-management experience.
  • Strong, detail-oriented thinker with understanding of hospitality-related finance transactions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including exceptional Excel skills.
  • Proficient user of accounting software.
  • Professional level of verbal and written communication.
