About the position

The Hospitality Sales Manager (HSM) at Etude Winery is responsible for overseeing all guest interaction programming and financial deliverables. This role focuses on creating a safe environment for employees and guests, delivering exceptional guest service, managing sales metrics, and developing engaging programming. The HSM will also handle operational and sales budget management, staff performance, and compliance management, while representing the Etude brand in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Create and ensure a safe environment for employees and guests.
  • Curate, lead, and deliver exceptional guest service and programming.
  • Deliver key sales metrics including club conversion and net sales revenue.
  • Develop engaging and relevant guest programming and consumer event programs.
  • Manage overheads and cost controls, especially labor and COGS for tours and tastings.
  • Train team members and cultivate a high-performance culture.
  • Manage operational and sales budgets.
  • Oversee staff performance management and succession planning.
  • Conduct market research and competitive benchmarking.
  • Manage and plan incentive programs.
  • Manage inventory and merchandise.
  • Resolve customer issues and manage compliance.
  • Implement all HSE topics and training, managing compliance reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years in a similar retail or sales leadership role in the hospitality industry.
  • Preferred experience as a tasting room or hospitality manager, ideally in the wine industry.
  • Experience leading a high-performing team of more than 18 employees.
  • P&L responsibility managing revenue of $2M+ or the ability to do so.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to coach others.
  • Knowledge of food and wine, the wine industry, and Napa and Bay Area hospitality market.
  • Proven track record of delivering results against defined targets.
  • Working knowledge of winery POS systems, calendar programs, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong customer service and sales aptitude.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs (a case of wine).

  • Experience in the wine industry is ideal but not essential.
