Our establishment in Manhattan boasts a sophisticated dining area, a vibrant open kitchen featuring a wood-fired oven, and a carefully curated beverage selection by seasoned professionals in the industry. We are in search of talented hospitality experts to enhance our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that our guests have an exceptional dining experience from the moment they arrive until they leave. This position requires a blend of leadership, service management, and collaboration with both the front-of-house and back-of-house teams to maintain the high standards that Borgo is known for. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for guest engagement, ensuring that patrons feel valued and attended to throughout their dining journey. You will manage reservations, seating arrangements, and special requests to enhance the overall guest experience. In addition, you will supervise the efficient operation of the dining area, maintaining exemplary service standards and addressing any guest inquiries or issues swiftly and courteously. Team leadership is also a significant aspect of this role. You will guide, train, and support dining staff, cultivating a positive and collaborative workplace. Organizing and overseeing staff schedules will be essential to guarantee optimal service coverage. Collaboration with the culinary team is vital, as you will work closely with kitchen staff to ensure effective communication and coordination between front-of-house and back-of-house operations, monitoring service flow to maintain a lively yet organized atmosphere for guests. Maintaining the restaurant's standards for cleanliness, organization, and visual appeal is crucial. You will ensure that all dining areas are consistently well-presented. Additionally, you will advocate for the restaurant's offerings, including special events, seasonal menus, and beverage selections, contributing to strategies aimed at attracting and retaining guests. Administrative responsibilities will include keeping accurate records of reservations, guest preferences, and notable occasions, as well as assisting with inventory management and other administrative tasks as required.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role such as Dining Room Manager, Captain, or Maitre D' within a fine dining environment.
  • A comprehensive understanding of culinary and dining room terminology, best practices, and techniques.
  • A broad knowledge of beverages, including major wine regions, varieties, and both classic and contemporary cocktails.
  • Experience with reservation systems, inventory management, and point-of-sale technology.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, along with strong organizational and multitasking capabilities.
  • A meticulous attention to detail and spatial awareness.
