About the position

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Motel Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our motel located in a charming small-town setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospitality management and a passion for providing exceptional guest experiences. This role requires a hands-on approach, effective leadership skills, and the ability to live on-site to ensure round-the-clock availability. The Motel Manager will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer service and satisfaction for all guests, handling inquiries, requests, and complaints promptly and professionally. This includes overseeing front desk operations, managing reservations, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for guests. Financial management is also a key responsibility, where the manager will handle budgeting, forecasting, and expense control to maximize profitability. Additionally, the Motel Manager will develop and implement marketing strategies to attract guests and increase occupancy rates, while also maintaining the property and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The role involves a variety of tasks, from managing housekeeping to ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the highest level of customer service and satisfaction for all guests, handling inquiries, requests, and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Oversee front desk operations, including check-in, check-out, reservation management, and guest billing.
  • Maintain a welcoming and hospitable atmosphere for guests, providing assistance and recommendations for local attractions, dining options, and activities.
  • Manage motel finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and expense control, to maximize profitability and achieve financial goals.
  • Monitor revenue and expenses, analyze financial reports, and implement cost-saving measures where appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting procedures, cash handling policies, and tax regulations.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to attract guests and increase occupancy rates, utilizing online platforms, social media, and local advertising.
  • Establish relationships with local businesses, tourism organizations, and community groups to promote the motel and drive business.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and guest feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of motel facilities, ensuring that all areas are well-maintained, safe, and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff or external contractors to address any issues or repairs promptly, excluding routine maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and grounds to maintain high standards of cleanliness and upkeep.
  • Remove soiled linens, towels, bedspreads, and blankets from each assigned room and provide fresh replacements.
  • Neatly make beds and stock towels, washcloths, and hand towels according to policies.
  • Clean and disinfect bathroom and kitchenette or coffee-preparation areas according to hotel policies.
  • Wipe surfaces in room and clean mirrors.
  • Vacuum floors and remove trash.
  • Check complimentary coffee, snack, and toiletry supplies in the room, restocking according to provided hotel checklist and policy.
  • Ensure room meets hotel standards with a final walkaround.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards related to hospitality operations, including health and safety regulations.
  • Implement and enforce motel policies and procedures, including security protocols, emergency procedures, and guest privacy policies.

Requirements

  • Ability to live on-site in a one-bedroom apartment.
  • Availability for emergencies and after-hours guest assistance.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in hotel management, business administration, or related field, preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in the hotel industry preferred.
