The Sales Manager's primary responsibility is to identify new sales opportunities, recruit new business, and retain and grow the current book of business. The ideal candidate for this position is a go-getter with a proven track record of creative promotion concepts and smart selling techniques. This person must be highly communicative, organized, a team player, and possess a positive, problem-solving attitude. The role requires a proactive approach to sales and the ability to build strong relationships with clients to ensure repeat business and customer satisfaction. In this position, the Sales Manager will meet or exceed pre-determined booking goals for guest room revenue. This involves compiling lists of prospective clients for use as sales leads based on information from the internet, business directories, and other sources. Regular in-person sales calls to potential clients at their place of business are essential to establish and maintain these relationships. The Sales Manager will also monitor pricing, service levels, facilities, and group activities at competitive facilities to ensure the hotel remains in a competitive position. Additionally, the Sales Manager will evaluate potential business opportunities for profitability and overall benefit to the hotel by utilizing various reports along with the guidance of management. The role includes the complete coordination of the Sales group functions, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of detailed Sales Contracts and Group Resumes as necessary. Following up on bookings and soliciting repeat business is crucial, as is meeting and greeting clients upon arrival and visiting with them daily when in-house. The Sales Manager will also obtain, detail, document, and route all necessary information on definite groups, including billing information, credit applications, and rooming lists. Furthermore, assisting in maintaining digital marketing, social media campaigns, and website initiatives to promote the hotel is part of the job description.
