The Host/Cashier/Busser position at Black Bear Diner involves providing excellent customer service and ensuring a positive dining experience for guests. Responsibilities include greeting guests, seating them, managing waitlists, and assisting servers as needed.

Responsibilities

• Greet all arriving guests warmly and promptly.
• Seat guests based on preferences and balance customer flow.
• Record guest names and party sizes when immediate seating is limited.
• Provide guests with estimated waiting times.
• Call out names and party sizes when tables become available.
• Inspect tables for proper presentation and completeness.
• Relay messages to servers as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness in the entrance, lobby, dining room, and restrooms.
• Assist servers in maintaining and stocking service stations.
• Transport dirty dishes to the dish room as needed.
• Clean and reset tables promptly.
• Clean chairs, booths, and surrounding areas.
• Take food and beverage orders for takeout and enter them in the point-of-sale system.
• Process payments correctly and efficiently.
• Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return.
• Perform side work at the start and end of each shift as assigned.
• Fill in as needed to ensure smooth restaurant operations.

Requirements

• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly demeanor.
• Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
• Good sense of humor and patience.
