About The Position

The Host/Hostess at Bottiglia Cucina & Enoteca is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests, managing reservations, and ensuring smooth guest flow in a high-volume dining environment. This role requires excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining professionalism and guest satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 1 year experience as a hostess in a similar, high-volume restaurant environment or 6 months experience in a fine dining establishment required.
  • 1 year experience in marketing nightclubs, restaurants, or related experience in a retail or marketing internship preferred.
  • Experience with social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.
  • Good communication skills; multilingual is a plus.
  • Proficient in speaking and reading English.
  • Ability to program and operate a multi-line telephone.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with POS systems and cash handling.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a high-stress, high-volume environment.
  • Ability to follow directions well, make quick decisions, and stay organized under pressure.
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated, energetic, and a willing learner.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties with extreme care and detail.
  • Professionally groomed in accordance with department standards.
  • Physically able to walk without assistance and stand for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in marketing or related university marketing courses preferred.
  • Active participation in social media.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting guests in a positive, friendly manner and making them feel welcome.
  • Anticipating the guests' needs and responding appropriately with a sense of urgency.
  • Maintaining a level of professionalism that will make guests want to return.
  • Bidding farewell to guests, using their names when known, and encouraging them to return.
  • Controlling the flow of guests coming into the restaurant, bar, and lounge under pressure.
  • Overseeing daily restaurant reservations and pre-assigning seating where necessary.
  • Answering telephone calls and directing them appropriately.
  • Communicating with staff regarding VIPs, special orders, cake orders, special requests, and large parties.
  • Effectively communicating with management and service staff to fulfill guest needs and address any issues.
  • Participating in weekly marketing requirements and adhering to table and guest list requirements.
  • Assisting in developing the restaurant database through networking and completing data cards.
  • Encouraging guests to make weekly table reservations and building personal clientele.
  • Performing all opening and closing duties based on shift assignment.
  • Cleaning menu covers, replacing inserts, and maintaining the tidiness of the podium area.
  • Shutting down the podium, forwarding phones to voicemail, and stacking menus at the end of the shift.
  • Following all procedures and policies set forth by the company and health regulations.
