About the position
The Host/Hostess at Plainridge Park Casino is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests in a fast-paced sports bar and restaurant environment. This part-time role involves greeting guests, managing seating arrangements, and providing excellent customer service while maintaining cleanliness and organization in the dining area. The position requires a friendly demeanor and the ability to engage with guests to enhance their dining experience.
Responsibilities
- Foster a fun environment for guests and co-workers.
- Provide fast, friendly, professional, and responsive customer service to restaurant guests and staff.
- Greet each guest entering the restaurant and seat them according to specified rotation requirements.
- Maintain proper seating and reservation documentation.
- Monitor restaurant for table availability and assist in maintaining cleanliness of the dining room.
- Assist wait staff and bus persons in their duties, such as refilling water glasses and coffee cups.
- Operate a cash register/POS system, ensuring accurate transactions and maintaining financial controls.
- Complete all assigned closing duties at the end of the shift.
- Promote current casino events and programs, providing guests with directions as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to read, write legibly, understand, and speak English.
- Outgoing, energetic, and enthusiastic attitude.
- Comfortable initiating conversations and creating a fun environment with guests.
- Available to work required schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Must meet professional appearance standards.
