Host/Hostess

About the position

The Host/Hostess at HMSHost is responsible for greeting guests and seating them at appropriate tables, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere in the restaurant. This role involves various tasks such as managing reservations, maintaining dining areas, and assisting with food and beverage service, all while adhering to HMSHost's customer service standards. Responsibilities

• Greet guests and seat them at appropriate tables.
• Manage customer reservations and seating times.
• Maintain and update restaurant seating charts.
• Set up and maintain dining room areas before serving.
• Assist with maintaining sufficient stock of roll-up silverware.
• Seat guests and advise them on menu and beverage choices.
• Oversee the delivery and servicing of food and beverages.
• Liaise between kitchen staff and floor staff to ensure quality service.
• Perform cashier and bus person tasks as required.
• Follow cash handling policies and maintain cash security.
• Patrol assigned station, refilling water and coffee, and removing service items.
• Perform other duties during downtime, including rolling silverware and washing dishes.

Requirements

• Customer service and cash handling experience preferred.
• Excellent organization skills.
• Ability to read and interpret restaurant's seating chart.
• Demonstrates the ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly manner.
• Ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions.
• Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions and converse comfortably with customers.
